A Happy New Year of Knitting & Giving!

Good morning Knitters & Givers! Huge apologies for the delay in posts on this blog and big Thank You’s for your patience! I wish all of you a very Happy New Year!!

Here in Connecticut, we’ve had more than our share of snow lately…with more to come this Friday! No complaints though, as I have been knitting up a storm of my own. 🙂

2010 resulted in our donating more than 500 hand knit and crocheted items to those in need! Huge thank you’s to every single one of you that generously gave your time, love, and talent to donating.

On to 2011! First on the agenda is another donation to the Bridgeport Rescue Mission here in CT. I’ve been in touch with them and they can absolutely use more hats, scarves and mittens for all ages. I will gather, package and ship all donations into one large one to send to them the 2nd week of February – more shipments as needed.

We will continue to gather and donate to help those in Appalachia, and homeless shelters throughout Connecticut. Every item, no matter how small, helps a person in need!

Please remember that we do NOT accept monetary donations of any kind. This is an informal group of loving, caring people who give their time and talent to knit and crochet warm items for those less fortunate. Every single item finds its way to a person in need!

We accept donations of hats, scarves and mittens year round – items are stockpiled in the warmer months for donations beginning the first week of September through the first week of March. We continue to donate items of cotton and lighter fibers through the summer months (such as baby items, dishcloths, washcloths, socks, etc.).

I wish all of you a very happy 2011, full of knitting, giving & warmth!

Jessica
